To each their own
Yesterday, I went on a DC adventure with friends. And eventually we ended up at the National Gallery of Art. We walked aimlessly around, looking at portraits and paintings. We even checked out the new “Black List” exhibit, which showcases stunningly simplistic photographs of influential African Americans. I knew from the get-go that I should not go to the modern art exhibit. But of course, we ended up there and my fears were realized.
I’m by no means an art expert. My opinions are based purely on personal taste. Walking through the exhibit just made me more and more irritated. It completely boggles my mind how two stripes of black on a white canvas or a marble slate leaned against a wall can be worth thousands, if not millions, of dollars! Perhaps I’m just not enlightened enough to look at something that my 5-year-old cousin could recreate and see a deeper meaning to it. I wish we could have gone to the Natural History Museum instead.
