A metaphor
My debit card has a scratch on the reading strip. This oftentimes makes it difficult to use. I’m averaging ~10 swipes before it finally reads. But I refuse to give up on it. Because occasionally, I’ll be pleasantly surprised with it working on the very first try. Sure, I get dirty looks from cashiers or customers behind me but I don’t really care. I’m most likely never going to see them again. So my card may be a little scratched up. It may be inconvenient at times. But I’m not going to quit on it until it quits on me.
